  5. Release Notes
  6. -------------
  7. This is v.2.00.195 BETA of the Diamond GT Windows 95 Drivers disk, with
  8. InControl Tools 95 v.2.00.057 BETA.  This driver currently supports the
  9. following Diamond display adapters:
  10.  
  11.         Stealth64 Video 2000 series
  12.         Stealth64 Video 2001 series
  13.         Stealth64 Video 3000 series

  16. Windows95 Installation Notes
  17. ------------------------------
  18. 1.  From Windows 95, select Start, then Run.
  19.  
  20. 2.  Insert the Diamond GT Windows 95 Drivers diskette into your floppy drive.
  21.  
  22. 3.  In the Run dialog box, type in the following:
  23.  
  24.         A:\INSTALL <enter>
  25.  
  26.     Where A is the drive letter of the floppy drive containing the Diamond GT
  27.     Windows 95 Display Drivers / InControl Tools 95 diskette.
  28.  
  29.     The following command line switches can be used with INSTALL:
  30.  
  31.         /f              This forces a Full installation (Diamond GT 
  32.                         display driver and InControl Tools 95).
  33.  
  34.         /m              This forces a Minimal installation (Diamond GT
  35.                         display driver only).
  36.  
  37.         /d"drive:\path" This installs InControl Tools 95 into drive:\path. Note
  38.                         that the quotes around the drive and path are
  39.                         required, and that either the /f or /m must be used
  40.                         in conjunction with this switch.
  41.  
  42.         /r              This forces a system reboot after installation.  Note
  43.                         that either the /f or /m switches must be used in
  44.                         conjunction with this switch.
  45.  
  46.         /nr             This prevents a system reboot after installation.
  47.                         Note that either the /f or /m switches must be
  48.                         used in conjunction with this switch.
  49.  
  50.         uninstall       This will completely uninstall the Diamond GT display
  51.                         driver and InControl Tools 95.
  52.  
  53. 4.  From the Diamond Setup dialog box, select Next.
  54.  
  55. 5.  From the Hardware Check dialog box, select Next.
  56.  
  57. 6.  A dialog box will appear containing the path where InControl Tools 95 
  58.     will be installed.  The default path is:
  59.  
  60.         C:\Program Files\Diamond
  61.  
  62.     Select Next, or change the path as necessary.
  63.  
  64. 7.  The next dialog box selects the installation type.  There are three
  65.     installation types, Minimal, Full, and Custom.  They are defined as
  66.     follows:
  67.  
  68.          Minimal:  This will install only the Diamond GT display driver.
  69.  
  70.          Full:     This will install both the Diamond GT display driver
  71.                    and InControl Tools 95.
  72.  
  73.          Custom:   This will allow installation of either the Diamond GT
  74.                    display driver or InControl Tools 95.  At the minimum, 
  75.                    the Diamond GT display driver must be installed during
  76.                    a first-time installation.

  79. 8.  If Custom was selected in step 7, a dialog box will appear allowing
  80.     selection of various items.  Select the items to be installed by
  81.     clicking on them with the left mouse button.  When finished, click
  82.     Next to continue.
  83.  
  84. 9.  At the Select Files to be copied dialog box, click Next to begin the
  85.     file copy process.
  86.  
  87. 10. After the files have been copied, a Finished Installing dialog box will
  88.     appear.  Remove the installation diskette from the floppy drive, then click
  89.     Finish.
  90.  
  91. 11. Windows 95 will ask that the computer be restarted.  Click on Yes to
  92.     restart the computer.

  95. Known Limitations
  96. -----------------
  97. If these drivers are installed from "Have Disk" with the Microsoft S3 driver 
  98. already active, the Microsoft driver will overwrite the PCI frame buffer 
  99. address.  The system *MUST* be powered down after installing the Diamond GT 
  100. Windows 95 display driver to remedy this issue.  Note that this issue does not
  101. occur when installing over the Microsoft VGA driver.
  102.  
  103. DDC monitors are not supported in this release.  This will be addressed in the
  104. final release of these drivers.
  105.  
  106. Using a Stealth64 Video 2001 series card at 1280x1024 8-bit desktop with a
  107. 640x480 viewport, the viewport may be displayed incorrectly.
  108.  
  109. A General Protection Fault may occur by running After Dark for Windows v.3.1.
  110. Upgrading to After Dark v.3.2 will resolve this issue.
  111.  
  112. If you have an MVP 2000 module for your Stealth64 Video 3000 series card, you
  113. may experience icon corruption.  If this occurs, power the system off, remove
  114. the MVP 2000 module, restart the system, enter Windows 95, then change color
  115. depths.  This will be addressed in the final release of these drivers.
  116.  
  117. To view the Online Internet Services, your World Wide Web browser must be
  118. registered with the Windows 95 Registry.
  119.  
  120. Using Microsoft's The Fox and The Bear application in 640x480 16bpp, the
  121. display will not be correct.  This problem is being investigated.
  122.  
  123. With some BIOSes, you may encounter problems switching between the desktop and
  124. 320x200 or 320x240 DirectDraw modes.  This problem is being investigated.
  125.  
  126. The following BIOSes have been tested with the Diamond GT display driver.  If
  127. you have an older BIOS and are encountering difficulties, it is recommended
  128. that you contact Diamond Customer Service at 408-325-7100 (option 3) to get the
  129. current version of the BIOS for your Diamond display adapter:
  130.  
  131.         Stealth64 Video 2000 series:    BIOS 1.02
  132.         Stealth64 Video 2001 series:    BIOS 1.00, 1.01, 1.03
  133.         Stealth64 Video 3000 series:    BIOS 1.04, 1.06

  136.         Stealth64 Video 3200:        BIOS 1.06, 1.16

  143. Increased performance.

  145. With InControl Tools 95 enabled, a General Protection Fault may occur when
  146. connecting to America Online.  If this occurs, single left click the
  147. InControl Tools 95 icon in the tray, select Exit, select Yes to close InControl
  148. Tools, then reconnect to America Online.
  149.  
  150. If the Off function of DPMS is enabled, the system will not resume after the
  151. Off state is reached.

  158. and InControl Tools 95 in their BETA states.  Please realize that we have
  159. developed hundreds of thousands of lines of code, resulting in hundreds of
  160. thousands of man-hours of testing these products, yet there still may be issues
  161. that we haven't found.  We hope that you report any issues found to our
  162. Technical Support group via one of the methods listed below.  This will
  163. allow us to identify and resolve problems prior to the release versions of
